Baby Herman #2: Weeks 27 and 28

Once again, I had trouble getting around to blogging for Week 27.  So we have two sets of pictures this week.

Week 27:

And here I am at 28 weeks:
Click here to see Adriana at 27 & 28 weeks.  As it turns out, I did her pictures in the same post, too.

For my Week 29 post with Adriana, I did a gender prediction post (I was right, by the way).  So, come back next week to see what you might be able to expect in July.

Adriana Leigh is 19 Months Old

Adriana is continuing to thrive.  I gave up on counting her words because she is out of control.  She repeats absolutely everything, and I wasn't able to keep up with her.  She says very few three-syllable words, and we're still working on getting two words at a time, but she is definitely a talker.  She loves talking to EVERYONE!  Whenever we go out, she runs up to random people and starts talking to them.  She is definitely not shy...at least not yet.

She is working on her letters and colors right now.  She has foam letters in the living room and bathtub (thank you Brandon).  She also has refrigerator letters which help her learn.  As of right now, she can recognize and say A, B, C, D, E, F, K, M, P, S, and T 100% of the time.  She recognizes and says R and U about 90% of the time.  There are others that she will point to when you ask her, but she doesn't say them.  She also recognizes and says 2.

As far as colors go, she is doing very well.  She consistently recognizes and says red, blue, yellow, green, purple, black, and pink.  We are working on white now.  Orange is just hard to say, so she shies away from it.  We'll get to brown and gray soon.

I'm particularly proud of her because she is starting to "read."  She loves the book, Llama Llama Red Pajama.  When we read it to her, she finishes all but two of the pages.  I hope to have a video of this very soon.  For now, you'll have to settle for some pictures, but they're some pretty cute pictures.

Baby Herman #2 - 25 Weeks and 26 Weeks

We had Spring Break last week, so I was definitely able to get my pictures taken.  But, Adriana kept me busy on my week off, and it was Scott's busiest week of the year (well, his busiest week when he's not out of town anyway) so I didn't get a chance to update the blog.

I'm starting to get quite uncomfortable.  I have trouble sleeping because of my belly, my inability to breathe, and my charley horses.  Fun stuff.  My heartburn is getting worse, but it's still not as bad as it was with Adriana.  I'm still able to eat lemons, and with her, I had to cut them out a long time ago.

Here's my picture from 25 weeks pregnant:

Baby #2 - Weeks 23 & 24

I'm on Spring Break now, so it's time to get caught up on the blog a little.  I took pictures for week 23, but didn't get a chance to post them.  So, this is two week's worth.

Week 23:

As I went back to find the links to Adriana's pictures, I confirmed what I had been thinking about the difference in my two pregnancies.  By this time with Adriana, I was already in a lot of pain.  I've made comments to Scott and my mom about not being in nearly as much pain this time.  Maybe it's because it's not as hot yet outside.  Maybe it's because the baby is not head-down yet (at least not all the time).  Whatever the reason, I may be in pain from time to time, but for the most part, it's a lot better.  Maybe that means labor will be less painful, too?  I hope so...

Adriana Leigh is 18 Months Old!

We are already halfway through Adriana's second year!

At 18 months, Adriana can do all of the following:
  • stoop and stand back up independently
  • bend over and look through her legs (we call this her handstand)
  • walk backwards
  • run the length of a room without falling down
  • pushes, pulls, and carries large toys while walking
  • climbs up stairs
  • marks a piece of paper with a crayon and scribbles (she usually scribbles pretty delicately)
  • stacks 3+ blocks
  • can hold an object with one hand and manipulate it with the other hand
  • sits directly in a small chair
  • picks up a toy from the floor when standing up
  • walks on tiptoes
  • kicks ball forward
  • turns pages of book one by one
  • attempts to put on shoes
  • attempts to put familiar objects away
  • waves
  • imitates new, less-familiar words, sounds, and body movements
  • points to and reaches for objects
  • uses a combination of simple words, inflection, and body language to get her point across
  • identifies parts of her body
  • identifies parts of others' faces
  • points to pictures in books upon request
  • listens to nursery rhymes and short songs with fingerplay
  • can speak 45 words
  • plays alone on floor with toys
  • enjoys being held and read to
  • enjoys and audience and applause
  • likes to hand objects to others
  • recognizes self in mirror and pictures
  • imitates others, especially by coughing, sneezing, or making animal sounds
  • likes to imitate parents' actions
  • gets angry sometimes and has temper tantrums
  • comforts a distressed parent
  • enjoys simple pretend play like wearing hats and talking on phone
  • shows affection by hugging and kissing
  • finds it difficult to wait and wants things immediately
  • enjoys looking at picture books
  • enjoys adult attention
  • enjoys exploring and gets into everything
  • often gets physically aggressive when frustrated
  • is attached to a toy (Dora)
  • goes after a hidden object
  • knows "scripted" routines (bedtime)
  • can match two objects together by color or shape
And, of course, she's still as cute as ever! (The pictures were taken while we were visiting Grandma Coley and Poppy.)
