Measure Up Monday - 19 Weeks

We're still teething here, but nothing has come through yet.  Adriana now has little jagged-looking holes in her lower gums, so I'm sure a tooth (or two) will be here soon.

Measure Up Monday - Week 18

Adriana's having a rough day. She's teething, and it hurts! We can't wait until this tooth (or teeth) pop through, but for now we're getting by with Tylenol, teething tablets, lots of nursing, lots of being held, more crying than usual, and not much playing. We can blame the tooth (or teeth) for the lack of a good smile in this week's picture.

Adriana Leigh is 4 Months Old!

Adriana turned 4 months old on Wednesday.  I took pictures then, but I'm just now getting around to blogging because I haven't quite adjusted to my work schedule.  That, and when I'm home after being gone all day, I want to spend my time with Adriana, not the computer.  Adriana will be 5 months on a Saturday, and 6 months on a Sunday, so hopefully the updates for the next two months will be more timely.

At four months old, Adriana can do all of the following:
  • Typically sleeps 8 - 9 hours at night before waking (but she still has the occasional bad night)
  • Rolls from stomach to back (she rolls onto her side A LOT, but can't quite get to her tummy yet)
  • Sits with support
  • Lifts head up to 90 degrees
  • Can follow a moving object for a 180-degree arc
  • Babbles and amuses herself (and everyone else) with new noises
  • Responds to all colors and shades
  • Explores objects with her mouth
  • Recognizes bottle and breast (and doesn't want to wait once she sees one)
  • Communicates pain, fear, loneliness, and discomfort through crying
  • Responds to rattles and other sounds
  • Pays attention to small objects
  • Is beginning the teething process
  • Makes vowel-consonant sounds
  • Copies some facial expressions
  • Makes two-syllable sounds
  • Turns in the direction of a voice
  • Chews on objects
Of course we are still so thrilled with our baby girl!  The other day, Scott made a comment about some men who don't get involved in their babies' lives.  Then he said, "I just don't get how you could be that way.  She's so cute and so much fun!  How could you not want to spend as much time as you can with your baby?"

Scott and Adriana definitely miss each other when Scott has to go out of town for work.  But it's SO cute when he gets back.  Adriana will smile so big, kick her legs, and squeal so loudly when he walks in the door.  She definitely knows and loves her daddy!

And we love you, Adriana Leigh Herman!

Measure Up Monday - Week 17

My computer is still not fixed, but my mom is visiting, and she brought hers.  So...here is Week 17.  And Week 16 is fixed.

16 Weeks

My computer's hard drive is fried, so I can't get pictures on here right now.  I will get Adriana's 16-week picture (and any other weeks that are missed) on here as soon as I can.  For now, the only thing to say today is that I am in mourning.  It is my last day at home with my baby.  I go back to work tomorrow.  It is the day I have been dreading since September 11.  So far, I have only cried 4 times, but there are still 7 hours left in the day.  I plan to spend the majority of those seven hours spending time with Adriana and repeating the following:  "60 days until Spring Break, 60 days until Spring Break, 60 days until Spring Break..."

I'm using my mom's computer to post the 16-week picture.
