33 Weeks

First of all, I made an error in last week's blog.  It's fixed now, and I'm sorry for the error.  Maybe (hopefully), the error wasn't even noticed.  :-)

The nursery is pretty much done!  I worked on some finishing touches yesterday, and I will put the baby's name on the wall once we know whether to put the Ebenezer or Petunia up.  (Oh my gosh!  I can't believe I just gave away the names!  Don't tell Scott.)  But, otherwise, it is done.

We bought our furniture in the spring.  I think we got the crib, dresser, and changing table in April, and the glider in May.  Scott painted the room in the middle of June, when I went to New Jersey with my mom.  At the end of June, Scott, my dad, and Brandon put a chair rail up in the nursery.  The following weekend, Scott painted the chair rail and I put up decals.  At my shower a couple of weeks ago, my mom (and dad) gave us our bedding.

As you can probably tell from the other pictures on my blog, I don't have the best camera (it's old, and right now, I'd rather spend my money on baby stuff), but I think you can get the general idea from these pictures.  If you are ever in our area, and you would like to see the room in person, just let me know.

This is the view of the nursery as you walk in.

As you walk into the room, you see these blocks.  (I don't know what's wrong with this picture.)

This is a view of the closet:

The dresser and changing table go along this wall.

The wall to the left of the window
The wall with the crib and glider.  The baby's name will go above the crib.

I made this bear for the baby at Build-a-Bear.  I recorded the baby's heartbeat, and you can hear it when you press the bear's right paw.  (Yes, I steal all of my ideas from Shannon.)

And now that you've taken a tour of the nursery, here are the pictures of its resident-to-be (I feel like it grew a lot this week!):

32 Weeks

The nursery is done!  But...I'm not posting pictures until next week.  This week, I'm focusing on my shower that Sara threw for me this past Saturday.

It was a wonderful shower!  I can't imagine it being any better.  Sara, with the help of her mom, Debbie, did a fantastic job, and I feel like I can't say thank you enough.  The food was great, and the games were a lot of fun.  I think my favorite part of the shower was the introductions.  Most of us knew each other, but just in case, Sara had each person tell her name, how she knows me, and the trait of mine or Scott's that she hopes the baby inherits.  In a round-about way, I got to hear several compliments, and it made me feel so good to hear the things that others love about me (or Scott).

Also, thank you to Mom, Ashtyn, Celeste, Dot, Jaclyn, Kathy, Miranda, Rita, and September for being there to celebrate with me!

After eating and playing some games, I got to open my presents (with Ashtyn's help).  Our baby is definitely spoiled already!

We got a diaper stacker, window valance, wall decals, and lamp that match our nursery decor from Debbie, Sara, Heidi, Abby, and Carlie:

A sleep sack (also from Debbie, Sara, Heidi, Abby, and Carlie):

A Mother Goose book (from D, S, H, A, & C):
The back says "especially for..."  We will fill it in when the baby is born.

Diapers (from D, S, H, A, & C):

Our nursery bedding set from Mom (and Dad, even though he wasn't invited):

Ashtyn got us a hooded towel, two outfits, a sleeper, and a security blanket:

From Kathy, we got a diaper bag, a Scentsy lamb with a vanilla-scented pouch, and a Berenstein Bears book:

Rita got us diapers, a first year frame, a Yankees sippy cup and bottle (so the baby will fit in in our family), and a froggy book:

Mom (and Dad) also got us a Dinosaur book, a body bib, and a Hooter Hider:

Celeste got us some receiving blankets:

From Dot, we got this figurine that sits on a shelf in the nursery:

September and Miranda gave us a Bumbo seat and this cute bath mitt:

Pam wasn't able to be at the shower, but she got us a Boppy pillow:

Our baby will be clean and happy thanks to Jaclyn's shampoo, soaps, lotions, powder, washcloths, and bedtime story:

And then the baby will be cozy and dry thanks to these cute towels:

Then came the prizes for the games!  First, we got three onesies, three burp cloths, and an Elmo book:

Then there were some bibs:

Scott says the "Daddy's hugs are the best" bib is only for special occasions (so it will stay clean).

And finally, some rattles:

Debbie, Sara, Heidi, Abby, and Carlie also got us this beautiful bassinet!

Sue was out of town for this shower, but she still got a gift for the baby.  We got an exersaucer that can be used for three different stages:

I love all of my presents!  As I said, my baby is very spoiled already, and all of my presents will be SO useful!  But, I'm a sentimental person, so my favorite gift came from my mom.  I can't wait for our baby to get baptized, because I am so excited for it to wear its outfit.  My mom used her wedding dress to have our baby's Christening outfits made.  Since we don't know what we're having (and don't know what our future children will be), she had a boy's outfit and a girl's outfit made.

If we have a boy, he will wear this when he is baptized:

If we have a girl, she will be Christened in this:

Look at this detail!

And if you haven't seen enough pictures yet, here are the weekly belly shots:

See you next week with nursery pictures!
