Measure Up Monday - Week 15

Sorry this is a day late. Christmas threw our normal routine off a little.

Adriana turned 15 weeks old on Christmas Day.

Bottle Battle 2011 - Day 18

Today was not a battle.

We had our Pastore Christmas celebration at Tom's house. Adriana got hungry shortly after we got there. My mom was taking pictures of the kids opening presents, so I asked my dad if he wanted to give her a bottle. He did, and Adriana took the bottle without any trouble. She drank a few ounces.

After a little while, Adriana started to act tired, and she acted like she wanted to eat more, too. Dad was doing something else, so I gave her the bottle. Even though she was tired, she didn't fight me. She took the bottle, and fell asleep. She took the best nap she has taken in the past few days.

I think we're getting there...*

Bottle Battle 2011 - Day 17

I fed Adriana at 5:00, and we left for Scott's Christmas party at about 5:45.

When we got home a little after 10:00, Adriana was drinking from her bottle. Sue said it was a rough night, though. She said Adriana seemed tired, but wouldn't sleep for very long. She thought Adriana might be hungry, so she tried to give her the bottle. This made her more upset since she wasn't really hungry. She didn't want to be walked around, but she liked her swing. Finally, at about 9:30, she took the bottle. At that point, it would have been 4 1/2 hours since she had last eaten. This is not completely unreasonable for her. She had been eating every 3 hours during the day, and she usually does one 4 hour stretch at some point because of napping or just not being hungry.

I think she was over-tired. She didn't sleep much during the day, which we thought was a good idea so that she would fall asleep when I fed her at 5:00. The problem is, she didn't fall asleep at that time. She had to have been tired! We figured she only slept a total of 2-3 hours during the day yesterday. I'm hoping she sleeps better during the day when I go back to work. Maybe she just stayed awake yesterday because we were getting ready to leave and she was confused about what was going on. I really hope this all gets worked out in the next 2 1/2 weeks. :-)

Rollin', Rollin', Rollin'...

Adriana rolled over this morning!

It was from stomach to back, which I know is the easier one, but she keeps trying to go from back to stomach. I'm hoping to see it before I go back to work. Fingers crossed!

Bottle Battle 2011 - Day 16

Scott's Christmas party is tonight. This means three things:

1. Adriana will need to take a bottle.
2. That bottle will be given by someone other than her mommy.
3. That bottle will come at her usual bedtime feeding.

Since Adriana has been doing so well, we figured issue #3 would be the most troubling part of Adriana's night. We decided to have her take a bottle from Scott to go to bed last night. Adriana did NOT want a bottle to go to sleep. She went back to crying when she saw the bottle and refusing to suck. Eventually, she did take the bottle (from me), but she wouldn't go to sleep. When she finished the bottle, she opened her eyes and started rooting. For Adriana, her bedtime feeding is partially for eating and partially for comfort. The bottle is just about feeding. Obviously, last night made me more nervous about tonight.

Our plan is to not let her sleep much today, so that when I feed her before we leave, she'll take a nap. Sue can then give her a bottle when she wakes up from her nap. Then Adriana can stay awake until we get home (hopefully), and I'll feed her to go to sleep then. Let's hope it works.
